Assistant Job Scam

There have been a number of reports of an outside party impersonating a TCNJ professor offering a a job to students. This is a scam. A TCNJ professor will never reach out to any students on their personal email accounts and ask the student to be their assistant.

Any unsolicited messages should be scrutinized, especially job offers. You should always take notice of the email address to which you are sending, and if something seems unexpected or unusually you should confirm the person on the other end is who you think they are with a phone call.

Huge red flag if someone is offering you a job, but will not speak to you on the phone.

You can always reach out to the TCNJ Security Team at itsecurity@tcnj.edu if you have any questions or if you just are not sure about a message, website, etc. and also you can report any suspicious messages to phish@tcnj.edu
