NCSAM 2020

October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM). This year’s theme is “Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart.” The theme emphasizes the important role we all must play in protecting ourselves and the College from cyber attacks. It is our shared responsibility to be good digital citizens. No individual is solely responsible for securing the Internet. Everyone must do their part to use technology safely, follow strong security practices, and raise awareness to fellow community members.

This year we created a Security Awareness Scavenger Hunt. You can access the the scavenger hunt here The 15 clues range in difficulty, but we think you have the skills you need to make it the end, and if you get hung up you can always reach out to us for some extra clues to guide you We broke up the scavenger hunt into three parts. Take the first letter of each of your answers and put them after the url to get to the next tier (For example Successfully completing the scavenger hunt will enter you in a drawing for a pint of Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food ice cream. You have until the end of October to complete the scavenger hunt. Five successful hunters will be chosen at random. The winners will be announced on November 2nd.

We also have a new security awareness training platform. We are still working on developing the content, but all employees will receive an email about the annual mandatory security awareness training when it is ready.

We have a few other activities planned for NCSAM 2020. There will be a Zoom seminar on password management, using LastPass, at 10am on Wednesday October 14 and and the following week October 21. Sign up for the seminar here Password Management Sign Up
